Great toy for 5 and up!
Reptangles are a fantastic toy for the 5 and up crowd. I made a mistake and bought them for my newly 3-year-old here on Amazon based on the fact that on the fatbraintoys.com website, it was listed under "top toys for 3-year-olds." I should have checked the age rec also, but did not, so my fault. I was a bit frustrated when I received the box in the mail which said ages 6 and up, but I thought he would still enjoy the toy. However, when he opened the turtles, he is not able to even come close to snapping these turtles. Thankfully, he loves that they are turtle-shaped and just carries them around. Also, thankfully I have 4 older children that are having a blast with them and the puzzle book that comes along with them. They are a challenge to snap together though, it definitely takes some good fine motor skills. My 4-year-old daughter was struggling with it too. My 3 children 5 and up all were able to do it wonderfully though!
I just wish it would not be on the "top...
Great Imaginative Toy
I got this toy on a recommendation for my kids and I think I enjoy it as much as they do. These colorful turtles can be snapped together in an unlimited number of shapes and figures. Young ages will have fun just playing with the individual turtles. Older kids will begin to experiment with various patterns and shapes. They easily snap and unsnap and hold together very well. My only criticism is that if you force a nub into a slot misaligned you can damage the nub causing the turtle to have difficulty snapping together.
Impossible for a child to click together
I'm REALLY disappointed in this toy. I bought this very early on and set it aside for a Christmas present for my 5 year old son who loves animals and building things. A sure win, or so I thought. Lesson learned: if only I opened the package upon arrival to test it out before setting it aside and wrapping it for later. My son opened them on Christmas morning and we were so excited to use them. Unfortunately, they are near impossible for an adult to snap together, never mind a child. My little boy said, "That's okay Mama, we'll just use them as turtles." So sweet of him to look at the positive side but in my head, I couldn't help thinking, "Sure, just what we need... 30+ plastic turtles around the house with no purpose other than being colorful." And since I ordered them so early on, I can't return them as it's well past the return policy timeframe. What a waste of money for us and a waste of a Christmas present. I don't even think I could give them away since I don't know what...
